Health Care Compact in Trouble-HELP!

As hard as it may be to believe, the Health Care Compact – our best chance to protect Texans from ObamaCare – is in danger.

Because the Health Care Compact language failed to pass the Senate in House Bill 5, it has been added as an amendment to Senate Bill 8, a bill authored by Sen. Jane Nelson and one of Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst’s top priorities. In part due to threats of a Democratic filibuster, we have been told by multiple sources that Sen. Jane Nelson plans to strip the Health Care Compact from Senate Bill 8 in conference committee – and is willing to let Senate Bill 8 die if need be.

Please generate as many calls as you can – as quickly as you can – to the following people:
Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (512) 463-0001
Sen. Jane Nelson (512) 463-0112
Your local Republican senator

Message: We urge you to promptly call up Senate Bill 8 and concur with the House amendments, in particular the Health Care Compact language. This is a Texas idea for pushing back against ObamaCare and protecting our health care against an overreaching federal government. Georgia and Oklahoma have already signed the Compact and it would be a national embarrassment if a Texas Legislature with huge Republican majorities can’t get this done.

Jon-David spoke with the Honorable Arlene Wohlgemuth, Executive Director of the Texas Public Policy Foundation who alerted us of the issue.  Get on the phone and make a difference!
