5p-Michigan Left Turn in Plano?  That's right, if you want to make a left, you first need to make a right.  Are you confused yet?  So is everyone else.  Plano officials say it will make things easier.  J-D thinks it will leave people saying, "Which way did he go, which way did he go?"  1-866-660-KSKY (5759)

6p-Oliver Stone has now apologized for his anti-Semitic comments.  Republican Leader John Boehner and several others have come out against the remarks.  We'll talk to Ben Cohen, Associate Director of Communications for the American Jewish Committee. 1-866-660-KSKY (5759)
7p-The Dems are imploding.  Wanna know why?  Also, the latest on Charlie Rangel 1-866-660-KSKY (5759)

  1. Hey JD. Very entertaining MLT discussion this afternoon. I had to check it out for myself.

Granted it was 5:48 so probably outside the heavy traffic window, but the cycles allowed for a fairly seamless scoot over to the turning lane on NB Preston. Then I had to wait a while to make my left on to SB Preston. Altogether, I tallied a right, a scoot, a left, a wait, more waiting, a little more waiting, a left and we were on our way.

Thing is, Plano added lights for this. So the argument about the cost efficiency of not adding lights is invalid. Not sure which of your callers argued against installing a left turn because of cost?

I hope I've been clear. I encourage you to send someone out tomorrow to drive it and/or observe and report. I agree it's a roundabout (literally) way of addressing the traffic problem. But oftentimes, the more complicated a solution, the more funding it receives. Consultants seem to figure out ways to make a lot of money, don't they? Which engineering firm won this contract? Who ultimately sold the idea?

I'm also curious to know if there are any claims specialists amongst your listeners who might have some insights regarding the accident rates of MLTs vs. traditional left turns.

Anxious for more detailed and lively debate around this.
